West 8 Urban Design and Landscape Architecture

The newly completed Zhangjiang Art Park Project, which renovates and reunites the two dated parks in Pudong Shanghai, is successfully delivered in spring 2019. It is anticipated to simultaneously bring new pulses of social ecology and urban regeneration to the entire Northwest District of Zhangjiang Science City. 

'My Street' program, a series of Moscow City public realm upgrade projects led by Strelka KB in collaboration with several renowned foreign architects and planners including West 8, is named as a finalist for the 2019 ULI Global Awards for Excellence.

West 8, SO – IL, Charcoalblue and Studio Gekh have been named as the winning team of the Master Plan competition for Artpark in Lewiston, New York.   

West 8 has been commissioned by the Municipality of Venlo to create a new design vision for Kazernekwartier (Kazerne Quarter) in Venlo, The Netherlands.

The official groundbreaking ceremony for Miami Beach Convention Center Park was celebrated on May 3rd. The new 5.8-acre park, designed by West 8, aims to open to the public in time to host the acclaimed Art Basel Miami this December.

On the 28th of April, the International Horticultural Exhibition (also known as the 2019 Beijing Expo), the largest garden exhibition in the world, was opened by the Chinese leader Chairman Xi Jinping. West 8 represents the Netherlands in the Masters Garden area with the ‘Garden of Time’.

The first bespoke Coolsingel luminaire has been unveiled. The luminaire complements the redesign for Rotterdam's most important boulevard and will serve as an emblem for the new Esplanade.

West 8, together with our competition team featuring Periscope, Expedition Engineering, Donald Hyslop and Michael Grubb Studio, has been named as one of six shortlisted teams to design a world-class, exemplary public space surrounding Croydon’s historic Fairfield Halls. 

The Mixed-Use Development Essex Crossing, which features a vibrant public park designed by West 8 and Beyer Blinder Belle, is the winner of the New York Urban Land Institute’s Excellence in Mixed Use Development Award.   

Daniel Vasini, Creative Director at West 8, will speak on a panel at the Smart Cities Connect Spring Conference & Expo in Denver, Colorado this afternoon.

The Leadership of West 8 New York attended the first of four spectacular tree planting sessions at Drexel Square.

On Thursday 28 March, Adriaan Geuze will speak at the first Floriade Dialogues Summit in Almere.

At the end of 2018, the Basic Design Development of Yongsan Park was delivered and presented to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea, in Seoul. West 8 is dedicated to facilitating the next phases of the Yongsan Park development.

West 8 has been featured in several new international publications by Elizabeth Mossop, B. Cannon Ivers, Eric Firely, Adriaan Geuze, Riette Bosch, Edzo Bindels and Claire Agre.

With the design for an iconic market hall, West 8 has won the public vote for a new Market Square in the Dutch city of Apeldoorn.

In the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the Architects' Council of Europe (ACE) organised on 23 November in Leeuwarden a public conference on Adaptive Re-Use and Transition of the Built Heritage. Architect Penne Hangelbroek representing West 8 joined the conference.

On 22 Novermber, an official opening was commenced to celebrate completion of the park's new entrance at the side of the viaduct on the Johan van Hasseltweg at the Noord/Zuidlijn second metro station 'Noorderpark'.

Adriaan Geuze has been awarded the ARC18 Oeuvre Award for his lasting and innovative contributions to the built environment.
