Green Pockets start appearing at the Engelsplein

Aiming to create all-year-round green public space with human scale, here under the viaducts of Engelsplein, Leuven, ‘green pockets’ proposed by West 8 is at its height of realization. By the use of concrete curbs, wooden decking and sett, the original industrial character of city of Leuven is also emphasized. The public space around the Vaartkom is being transformed from an industrial to an esplanade wharf, a lounge with numerous terraces. When this area is completed, Engelsplein will become an intensely visited public area. The completion of this project is anticipated at the beginning of summer 2015. More news will follow when approaching the date of opening.
