't Zand Square project construction has started
05-01-2017Since Team West 8 + Snoek & Partners won the competition in 2015, 't Zand Square project has progressed further. Recently, the site is being prepared for the changes to come: mockups of paving materials are being tested and existing trees are being taken away. This largest square in Bruges will be built on top of an upgraded underground parking. West 8 + Snoeck & Partners's design strives to maximize the available space for a multitude of uses. During last season, the team has already made their selection at the nursery for the 81 low maintenance new Lindens which are going to be planted before the summer of 2018.

Yongsan Park Masterplan Exhibited at War Memorial Hall, Seoul
02-01-2017From the 27th Dec 2016 to 26th Feb 2017, The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs holds an 'Yongsan Park Design Model Exhibition' at the War Memorial Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, aiming to gather opinions of the public about the design of Yongsan Park which will become their first national park. A project dedicated website and social media accounts will also be available to introduce all key elements of the masterplan design by West 8 + IROJE and public are welcome to give feedback and express their ideas. Local newspapers reported the event: Yonghap News or Daily News Today - Seoul.

Opening King Willem-Alexander Tunnel A2 Maastricht
22-12-2016On the evening of the 15th of December, car drivers lined up for the 'night of the four tunnel tubes'. The tubes of the first double-layered tunnel in The Nederlands were put into operation. A phone call from Minister Schultz van Haegen (Infrastructure and Environment) to the traffic control centre served as the official ribbon cutting moment. The 2,3 kilometer tunnel is part of a 6 kilometer long system to release the pressure of traffic on the city of Maastricht. After this milestone, West 8's design for the landscape intervention on top of these tunnels and nearby surrounding areas will be executed.
