Making of Hondsbossche-en Pettemer Zeewering - The New Hondsbossche Dunes - see Dutch dune making in action!

West 8 has cooperated with Boskalis and van Oord on the integral design of this new dune landscape which sees 35 million cubic meters of sand added to this 10km stretch of coastline. Menno Jonk has made a series of video documentary recording this landmark project to secure the Dutch coastline from North of Petten to South of Camperduin. Green Pockets start appearing at the Engelsplein
16-02-2015Aiming to create all-year-round green public space with human scale, here under the viaducts of Engelsplein, Leuven, ‘green pockets’ proposed by West 8 is at its height of realization. By the use of concrete curbs, wooden decking and sett, the original industrial character of city of Leuven is also emphasized. The public space around the Vaartkom is being transformed from an industrial to an esplanade wharf, a lounge with numerous terraces. When this area is completed, Engelsplein will become an intensely visited public area. The completion of this project is anticipated at the beginning of summer 2015. More news will follow when approaching the date of opening.

Winter settles in at Governors Island but work continues
11-02-2015Winterstorm Juno brought a blanket of fresh snow to Governors Island in late January 2015, transforming the new park and public spaces into a winter wonderland. However work on Phase 2 'The Hills' continues despite the wintery conditions.
