Launch of Panorama the Netherlands in The Hague
13-12-2018On Thursday 6 December, Panorama the Netherlands was launched in Panorama Mesdag in The Hague. The Panorama provides an optimistic perspective for the spatial organization of the Netherlands. This perspective is represented in a 360-degree visual with a diameter of eight meters.
The Netherlands is facing a number of complex issues. Climate change, an ageing society, the transition to renewable energy, an acute shortage of housing and limits in agricultural development. The Panorama presents a recognizable image of a country that nevertheless functions fundamentally different and improved in terms of mobility, food production, building techniques and energy generation.
The Panorama is an initiative of the Board of Government Advisors (Floris Alkemade, Berno Strootman and Daan Zandbelt) and has been produced in close collaboration with the Deltametropolis Foundation and the designers and visual artists of West 8.
Minister Kajsa Ollongren (Internal Affairs): "We live in the Netherlands with many people in a relatively small country, so it is important that we think carefully about how we will organize our country in the future.”
Visit the Panorama
Panorama the Netherlands will be on display at various locations in the Netherlands in the coming year. From January onwards, the panorama is set up in the city hall of The Hague and is accessible for free. The app Panorama the Netherlands (available for iPhone and on Google Play), provides background information. The publication of Panorama the Netherlands can be downloaded from www.panorama-nederland.nl.
