Bridges of Rio Cali Park enters final phase
04-06-2018After the delivery of the City Square in 2016, the Rio Cali Park phase 2 broke gound in spring 2017, moving forward with construction of the western stretch of Río Cali Park. Until to date the construction continues which includes the two custom designed footbridges that will frame the river where it swerves perpendicularly across the park. Recently West 8 project leader Juan Figueroa Calero was on site for the supervision of the final phase of the bridge construction. Images above show the completed portion of the river front promenade and the concrete and steel structure of the bridges spanning across the river, getting ready for the precast railing and the rest of the prefabricated parts to be fixed on top during the upcoming seasons.

Parc du Moulon et le Carré des Sciences are taking shape
28-04-2018A year ago the construction of West 8 project "Parc du Moulon et le Carré des sciences" started in Saclay. Phase 1 is now completed and Phase 2 is about to be. This week, students of surrounding school buildings (designed by architects OMA, Gigon & Guyer and Renzo Piano) will start to enjoy their new campus life with the freshly completed main square "Carré des sciences" designed by West 8 as a pivotal gathering space. In the curves of the park, l'Etang, made from "meulière", a local stone, is materialized. This urban beach is a climate adaptive design which will catch excessive rainfall in rainy seasons. The curbstones made from limestone, extracted and shaped in the neighboring region Bourgogne, are being put in place. The planting is mostly finished and will be fully mature next year in fall when the third and final phases of the construction keep going.
